A silhouette is a view of an object or scene consisting of the outline and a featureless interior, with the silhouetted object usually being black. The term was initially applied in the 18th century to portraits or other pictorial representations cut from thin black card.
The term has been extended to describe the sight or image of a person, object or scene that is backlit, and appears dark against a lighter background. Because a silhouette emphasises the outline, the word has also been used in the fields of fashion and fitness to describe the shape of a person's body or the shape created by wearing clothing of a particular style or period.
We may be able to fill in the shape as two or more colours if the object is split.
Silhouette images may be created
in any artistic media.
An illustration is a visualisation such as a drawing, painting, photograph or other work of art that stresses subject more than form. The aim of an illustration is to elucidate or decorate textual information, such as a story, poem, newspaper article or have it has part of a logo to represent a corporate identity by providing a visual representation.
We analyse the costume drawing, image or photograph from our stock library or rough drafts sent in. Then we draw out the simple line drawing in a software called "Adobe Illustrator" and improve by filling in the shapes as tone and shades of colours creating a 3D effect to your image.
